Program Objectives
- Master barbering techniques, including hair cutting, shaving, scalp treatments, and chemical services using industry-standard tools and methods
- Apply infection control and sanitation procedures that meet or exceed the Georgia State Board of Cosmetology and Barbering standards
- Demonstrate professional client communication, consultation skills, and workplace conduct expected in today's barbershops and salons
- Complete all 1,500 required clock hours and preparatory coursework to sit for the Georgia State Board licensing examination

Admission Requirements
- High school diploma or GED equivalent required
- Completion of a successful interview and campus visit
- $125 registration fee required upon acceptance
Transfer Students: Credit may be granted for hours completed at another accredited institution, based on standards set by the Georgia State Board of Cosmetology and Barbering. Official transcripts are required for evaluation.
Barbering Curriculum Overview
- Classroom Theory (50 Hours): Chemistry, disinfection, hygiene, and Georgia laws and rules
- Hair & Scalp Treatments, Shampooing & Conditioning (25 Hours): Hair analysis, scalp conditions, treatment procedures, shampoo product knowledge
- Shaving (25 Hours): Straight-razor technique, the fourteen-stroke shaving process
- Coloring of Hair (25 Hours): Bleaching, highlighting, permanent, semi-permanent, and temporary color
- Hair Cutting & Styling (70 Hours): Precision cutting, fading, tapering, and proper use of clippers, razors, shears, and trimmers
- Facial Hair Design & Waxing (20 Hours): theory of facial massage, equipment, and facial treatments
- Permanent Waving, Relaxing, and Chemical Application (65 Hours): Chemistry of permanent wave solution, technique of placing wave rods on the client's head
Upon completion of the first 280 hours, you will continue your studies to fully prepare for becoming a licensed barber.
- Theory (200 Hours)
- Hairstyling Techniques & Cutting (500 Hours): proper/improper handling of instruments and training on maniques/live models
- Shaving (25 Hours): proper/improper handling of instruments, training on mannequins/live models, proper disposal of razor blades
- Shampooing (5 Hours): proper shampooing procedures, knowledge of shampoo formulas, and water temperature
- Facial Hair Design & Waxing (10 Hours)
- Scalp Treatment Techniques (10 Hours): hair analysis, scalp conditions, and treatments
- Permanent Waving, Relaxation, and Chemical Application (270 Hours): chemistry of cold wave solution relaxers and reactions, techniques of placing cold wave rods, chemistry of color, technique, and chemical action of hair color
- Additional Instruction (200 Hours): At the discretion of the instructor

Applicants to the barbering program at Pro Way Hair School’s campus must have a high school diploma or GED, complete a successful admissions interview, and visit the school prior to enrollment. A $125 registration fee is required, after which applicants are notified of their admittance.
